NaNo and a Book Cover

book mockup from covervault (click on the image for a larger view)
I have done NaNo a few times and succeeded but whatever history I have isn't on my NaNo page anymore which is kind of sad because I would like to see what I actually did. But I have never created a cover for any of those supposed novels so I try for one this year.

The artwork is one my older pieces but the objects here aren't really in the story but I like that they could be.  A Clockwork Journey is still a working title though it sounds right for now. Y.K. Faith is my pen name in case you're wondering who that is. Does it sound weird to you? I have been trying to come up with a good pen name for years but I've never found one that I really like. This one comes close. So I guess you're wondering why I don't use my real name. That's because I don't actually like it and also, I really love the idea of having a pen name. This is the synopsis that I came up with for A Clockwork Journey:

A young woman named Eddy tries to escape her past by moving forward only to end up somewhere unexpected.

It's vague and uninteresting so I'll rewrite this as soon as I know what exactly I'm writing. Here are some links to what I have written which prompted me to want to finish the story:
The 1st Eddy story
A Clockwork Journey - part 1
A Clockwork Journey - part 2

I'm not those people who writes outlines and know how the story goes from beginning to end. I usually just write what comes up. I write up random ideas that sometimes comes in the middle of the night which is probably not very efficient but it seems to work, most of the time. I have some vague idea of how it should end but as with most ideas, they don't always form in the way you want them to so it could all be different by the time I finish.

My user name at the NaNo site is lissa26 if you want to add me as a buddy. I would link you to my NaNo page but unless you have a NaNo account, you can't see it which makes no sense to me because not everyone's doing NaNo or have a NaNo account.

I just read this really good post and I thought I share the link: 10 Tips for Surviving NaNoWriMo

So are you doing NaNo and if so, do you already have a cover?

  1. Nice cover! The blurb is indeed vague...but intriguing all the same. And your pen name isn't half-bad, you know...it has a ring to it. Good luck with NaNoWriMo! As someone who learned the value of a schedule for blogging purposes, I'm sure that NaNo helps a lot when you're a writer.

    1. thank you. I have had this pen name for a while but never used it.

I think NaNo is almost helpful but only if you actually participate in the events and the groupd stuff and such.

thanks for visiting, have a lovely day.

    1. I think so too. thanks for dropping by, have a lovely day.

  3. This is fabulous, Lissa! Love it. I don't recall this piece but love how you made it a book and the book itself stock is perfect for your novel. If the story is as good as the art, you are well on your way!

    1. it's an old piece. I've only posted once on my previous blog. I think I'm better at creating covers instead of writing but I'll try.

    BTew, this is hilarious! hahaha.

    1. I love that quote too. it's why I put it up.

thanks for dropping by, have a lovely day.
