Yada Yada

The Yada Yada : an episode of Seinfeld where the phrase, "yada yada" is used in place of actual words.
The Internet Movie Database (The IMDb)

Here's a story — what do you think the 'yada yada' is about?

Jane was walking to work when she bumped into a mother and her little boy. He had one arm tightly wrapped around two boxes of chocolate chip cookies while his other hand is being held by his mother. Jane apologized and the mother nodded with an absent air and as she went away with her child, she muttered something Jane could not hear. Jane walked on and yada yada, she was in the emergency room with a concussion and two slightly smashed boxes of chocolate chip cookies.

  2. yada yada (before she knew it?).
I worry that she stole those cookies and the child put up a fight...

  3. My take:
Jane was walking to work when she bumped into a mother and her little boy. He had one arm tightly wrapped around two boxes of chocolate chip cookies while his other hand is being held by his mother. Jane apologized and the mother nodded with an absent air and as she went away with her child, she muttered something Jane could not hear. Jane walked on and ignored the woman.

Someone shouted, "Look out!" When Jane looked up, something that looked like a folded umbrella was coming straight at her but she couldn't move. Darkness filled her vision. When she opened her eyes, she was on the ground. The mother was there with her boy beside her and a few other faces as well. The mother pressed her hand on Jane's shoulder and said, "Stay still. You're hurt. I've called an ambulance." Jane was somewhat soothed by her words. Her head ached terribly. Through a blurred view, Jane saw the mother and her boy were still with her when she was lifted into the ambulance.

About a few hours later, when Jane woke up she was in the emergency room with a concussion and two slightly smashed boxes of chocolate chip cookies.

  4. Yada yada usually equates to blah blah blah which is what people say instead of a long tirade of words, usually meaningless to them, when they are relating the story to another person.

  5. Lissa,

Sounds like Jane had her attention on too much clutching the cookies, listenign to her mother blab about something that didn't make sense which resulted in her walking square into a streetlamp or mailbox. I've come close to doing stuff like on occasion, usually I glance the object brusing a shoulder or shin. What can I say, I'm a klutz!
