Rooms I want in my library island

'reading nook'
A room for books that takes up half of the island, lined with wall to wall shelves and ladders to reach the ones high up, and a glass ceiling where you can see the sky and maybe little nooks to read here and there

A reading room full of comfortable couches, chairs, chaises, swinging chairs that hung from the ceiling, even beds

A room for discussions with soundproof walls so people can scream if they want to

A room for silence because sometimes you want quiet when reading or not reading

A room for tea and cakes preferably with a professional pastry chef who likes to make jokes

A room for naps with lots of different types of beds and pillows and maybe nooks and corners for those who like to hide away

A room to watch tv shows and movies because you can't always be reading

A room for sky watching, preferably build high where you can almost touch the clouds

A room for just jumping with soft floors and ceilings

A garden that is housed indoor but spreads outward to the outside, full of all types of colorful flowers

A room for watching sunsets and sunrises with a 360-degree view through glass walls and ceilings

A room for art

A large restroom for the ladies, preferably with an area for couches and chairs

A medium restroom for the men, maybe a chair or two

A room for daydreaming, with nooks and corners for daydreaming or not daydreaming or thinking or not thinking

An outside space just for trees, large and small, short and tall, all types of trees

An empty room for the unexpected

How about you? What rooms would you include in your library island?

  1. I love the reading nook and the flower tree. So many good ideas for your library island. I would add an open terrace and a parasol and a big roomy couch with wonderful cushions for reading and a foot stool to put my legs up covered in a soft crocheted blanket in my favourite colours!

    1. I'm not much of a bird watcher but I do like birds.

Thanks for visiting & have a lovely day.

  4. What a wonderful island. How do I get there? I would like all of your rooms, but add some with birds and animals. Bees, butterflies, colourful birds, hens - they are so mind-easing to watch - horses, tigers, elephants and last but not least kangaroos.

    1. An animal sanctuary sounds good but you'll probably want separate rooms for them.

Thanks for visiting & have a lovely day.

  5. I would have just the one huge room, lined with books, a glass ceiling to see the sky and stars, a tall (not wide) window on each wall to see outside, a bathroom off one side and a lot of comfy chairs with a bed in one corner.

    1. So one room only then? I do like your idea but it could get crowded.

Thanks for visiting & have a lovely day.

Haha, poor men! but, yes, they should probably be confined in a smaller space, because they tend to take so much of it in real life.

I love that! I would probably use it to sit on the floor and wait for Doctor Who to come and take me on an adventure (except it wouldn't be unexpected if I was waiting for it).

I would add a room for listening to music and dancing! I like your jumping room too, though.

    1. I just figured men doesn't need all that much room for doing their business. I have seen long lines to the women's bathroom everywhere I go (& I have waited on these lines) so I think I'm justified on this. But of course, it may cause riots for this inequality but what the heck.

The expected and unexpected can sometimes intertwine so what you expect can sometimes be a surprise also.

Music - definitely, I would like a room just for that.

Thanks for visiting & have a lovely day.

  7. Lissa,

I would love to have a lovely room with lots of beautiful natural light streaming in for my art/office room. That would make me super happy! ;)
